By-laws

Legal requirements in the State of Delaware stipulate that a 501(c) organization have the by-laws be available to the members. Our 501(c) non-profit status is currently pending.  These By-Laws were drafted and amended several times since the inception of the Diamond Aviators Association (DAA) and accepted by the board at a meeting on July 12, 2007.  A copy of those By-Laws can be found here. (Right-click to download the PDF file.)

Some key points of the document are:

  • The DAA has applied to be a non-profit entity so that the maximum value of the Membership dues, income and sponsorships is returned to the members.
  • The Members of DAA have a say in the operation and ethos of the community. The Board of Directors will be voted upon at General Elections.
  • Active members can be nominated and elected to the Board of Directors. Member participation is encouraged.

We have posted a timeline leading up to the 2007 General Meeting
here:

August 30 2007: On or before this date the Founding Board appoints three
people to be the nominating committee for the annual meeting and election.

On this date that committee nominates at least three Members that will be
voted on for election to office at the General Meeting. We will ask the
members in the forum to suggest additional members for the ballot and
solicit a 30 day discussion period for those candidates.

September 30 2007: Nominations for board members to be elected this year will be due on this date. The prospective candidates will have to be
nominated by 10 members in good standing and submit a biographical sketch that allows the membership to decide on a suitable candidate for the
Directorship.

October 30 2007: The deadline for submitting your member dues so you can vote at election. You also need to pay dues by this date if you expect to be elected and were nominated by membership. Anyone nominated and has not paid dues will be removed from the ballot.

November 30 2007: The DAA first annual meeting is held. Two or more new board members are elected.

Update: The DAA received no new applicats for the board in 2007 so the current board remains unchanged until new applicants contact us.
